Enterprise Architect for Digital Workspace Experience (Remote)

What we’re looking for:

Ciena IT is looking for an industry leading talent to help write the next chapter of our digital transformation post COVID-19.  In particular, re-imagining the next level of Ciena employee engagement and business productivity with safety as a priority across 30+ global offices and the new addition of 6500+ remote home offices worldwide.  As a free-thinking Enterprise Architect, you will act as the leader of IT working collaboratively across Ciena to shape and deliver the most innovative digital workspace experience possible to help Ciena win.  You will be modeling business initiatives, documenting the blueprint covering 5 Transition States: defining the impact on people, process, information, tools/ technology, and describing the high-level business requirements and changes required to deliver the business initiatives. Furthermore, identifying and resolving interdependencies and capability overlaps between related projects and programs of work impacting core business areas.

The architect will be working with IT leaders to transition IT towards a business value focused organization.

What will you do at Ciena?

  • Define vision, strategy and principles for the new, post COVID-19 digital workplace design, standards and roadmap
  • Pursue relevant industry leading knowledge to reshape our digital workplace experience, anywhere, anytime on any devices, easily
  • Be the catalyst to extract future collaboration possibilities across business units
  • Challenge, influence and partner with the corporate real estate organization to re-imagine the post COVID-19 workplace strategy
  • Lead the required change management best practices across Ciena to ensure successful delivery of objectives and key results
  • Challenge, influence and partner with the various stakeholders and architects in the digital collaboration space including our digital collaboration tools like Salesforce, Office 365, Zoom, JIRA, Service NOW etc.
  • Mentor and lead junior architects and tech-leads around processes/technology and culture related to digital workplace transformation.

Requirements:

  • Having worked on large scale transformations
  • Comprehensive understanding of business architecture and how it links into IT
  • Translating business visions, goals, objectives and high-level requirements into architectures
  • Experience of business capability modeling, business motivation design and business operating models
  • Development and maintenance of architecture deliverables using recognized modeling standards
  • An extensive track record of shaping, designing and delivering components of major transformational change to provide long-lasting business value across organizations
  • The ability to lead end-to-end business design and restructuring programs
  • A passion for designing Target Operating Models and identifying and evaluating organizational options
  • The ability to support and work alongside senior leaders to shape, define and design the delivery of solutions that address the most complex business challenges
  • A high degree of logic and structured thinking coupled with advanced analysis and problem-solving techniques delivery focused view
  • Being comfortable in the use of a wide range of standard methods and tools, e.g. journey mapping, value proposition design, dependency mapping
  • The outstanding ability to bring to life abstract and complex concepts, communicating them effectively to executive-level audiences

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE                      

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Computer Information Sciences, Business Administration).

Advanced degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Industrial Processes, Computer Science or related fields is a plus.

A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both professional and management capabilities have been clearly demonstrated.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT                   

Ability to travel to key Ciena Sites

Ability to independently work with deadlines and schedules.

Ability to working remotely without day to day supervision.

CONCENTRATION           

This role requires one to step back and think through solutions (both technology and process) and present findings back and influence decision makers in both IT and IT’s clients (the business).
