Objectives of this Role
· Develop comprehensive documentation for internal and external audiences
· Obtain a deep understanding of technical systems and translate into simple, polished, and engaging content
· Develop and maintain a detailed catalog of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
· Publish external narratives describing the process for consuming our API as well as the associated data models
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
· Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with the various feature teams to understand systems requirements
· Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write product information, technical specifications, and process documentation
· Work with team leads and individual contributors to improve the documentation process for capturing ongoing changes
· Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation
· Participate in a team defined Agile workflow for completing all assigned work, including Agile ceremonies
Skills and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or communication discipline
· 2-4 years’ industry experience as an effective technical writer
· Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
· Previous experience writing technical documentation for multiple audiences
· Experience writing API documentation using interactive / exploratory tools
· Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
· Experience working with engineering to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
Preferred Qualifications
· Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization
· Firm understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
· Previous software development experience
· Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators or similar organization
· Experience using XML, JSON, YAML, or Markdown based tools to create documentation
