Position Title:Part-Time Temporary Nighthawks SOAR Teacher – Science (Summer 2020) Position Number:21011950 Benefits Eligible:No Campus Location:Oconee General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Nighthawks SOAR Teacher – Science on the Oconee campus.

Nighthawks SOAR Teacher – Science will be responsible for teaching coordinated lessons in Science to summer camp participants in the Nighthawks SOAR program at the Oconee campus.

This position is temporary, summer employment and will encompass two planning meetings prior to June 15, then Monday through Thursday (12p.m.

– 5p.m.) during the weeks of June 15 – July 2, 2020.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Nighthawks SOAR Teacher – Science will: Plan and implement hands on, thematic lessons in the content area per the 6 th – 8 th grade Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE), Coordinate with other SOAR teachers to plan thematic units and create coordinated lesson plans to teach content and reinforce concepts and topics taught in other disciplines in accordance with the 6 th – 8 th grade GSE.

Supervise students assigned to their homeroom class during instruction, break and supplemental activities.

Conduct pre and post assessments appropriate to the academic level and content standards taught.

Keep accurate records of attendance and student activities.

Supervise students on breaks as well as during meals and recreation times.

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in science discipline Three (3) years of experience at the middle grades level preferred Georgia middle grade teacher certification preferred.

ESOL Certification and/or gifted education a plus.
